Smallville Season 8 Premiere Tonight!

Posted in Odyssey, season 8, Smallville, Superman on September 18, 2008 by superman1224

“Odyssey” marks the first episode of the new season of Smallville. Time has flown by so quickly. The premiere has snuck up on me this year. I have a small confession to make though. I’ve been very cautious about getting to hyped up about this new season. There are a lot of changes to start off this season. Some good and some…well I suppose only time will tell. The two biggest question marks that stand over the show casting a very large shadow on my excitement, are the absence of Lex Luthor, and the introduction of Doomsday. By not having one and adding the other Smallville has been pretty much turned upside down. I’m hopeful though. I’ve seen some clips from the premiere and the way the new season has been shot it makes the show look larger.  Much like Heroes, in that “Movie on TV” quality. Another redeeming factor to this new season is depicted in one of the most epic shots of the series. I’m of course talking about the photo in this post. Clark and Lois working across from one another at the Daily Planet. The only thing that could top that, is seeing Clark fly.

The new season premieres tonight on the CW at 8 PM. Also be sure to check out Starkville’s House of El for the the best podcast on the planet. Seriously….these guys are great!

So this morning I have been slammed with all kinds of movie and TV news. First things first. New Dark Knight poster released. Very cool. I am getting the feeling since we are less than two months away from The Dark Knight, info will be pouring in from here on out. I will do my best to keep you all updated with any major happenings. In other news it looks as though Smallville will be short one blond Kryptonian in it’s 8th and final season. TV Guide’s Mike Ausiello reported that Laura Vandervoot will not be returning as a series regular. There is a possibility she may be back for one or two episodes, but it is unclear at this time. Read more here.
Also the new Punisher Movie has released it’s first poster. You can see that here.
Finally in the days leading up to Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, George Lucas has expressed interest in making a 5th Indian Jones movie. Hey why not….seriously what else does the guy have to do? You can read more of that here.

About Last Night

Posted in ABC, CW, LOST, NBC, Smallville, Superman, The Office on May 16, 2008 by superman1224

As most of you know there were some big finales and also the start of another. I had to work last night at Apple so I DVRed them all and watched one right after the other. Lots to cover so here we go.

LOST – Great episode. Ben is the good guy, didn’t you know? You’ll see. I also have a theory of who is in the coffin and I believe it’s right on the money. I’ll leave the answer in the comments for those of you woh don’t want to be spoiled.

Smallville – I really enjoyed it! Not the best season finale ever but still very good. Michael was stupendous and Kristin taped one of her best performances ever. I might have shed a tear. That scene was great. The writers have a huge mountain to climb for next season. One great thing about the episode was we got a New Dark Knight TV Spot!

The Office – GREAT! It’s really the only show (other than the old eps of scrubs) that can make me laugh out loud at least once every episode! Kevin is slowly becoming my favorite character. So bummed Andy stole Jim’s thunder. Ryan? Come on who didn’t see that kid going down in flames. Biggest OMG moment came when Jan made her appearance. I really hope Michael and the new HR lady lay a good base!

All Things Smallville

Posted in Allison Mack, DVD, News, Smallville, Starkville's House Of El, Superman, The CW on May 15, 2008 by superman1224

There has been a lot of things happening in the world of Smallville and I feel a little guilty not posting about it. So this post is meant just as a little house keeping since we are a the very cusp of the season 7 Finale! So here are a few headlines.

Allison Mack signs on for Season 8?: It had been reported earlier this week that it seemed as though Alison would not reprise her role as Clark’s trusty sidekick, Chloe Sullivan. The CW announced it’s 2008-2009 fall lineup and cast list for Smallville and Mack was not listed. TV guide broke news today stating that Alison has signed on for a full season 8 commitment. There is nothing final but the source seems lagit.

• Smallville’s 7th Season is now available for pre-order Amazon.com. As you might know I am a BIG supporter of Starkville’s Hose Of El. Derek and Steve do a great job over there with their weekly podcast and should be supported for all their hard work. SHoE is not a paying gig. This might come as a shock to some of you but it is the truth. So to help support those guys take a look at their amazone stuff. There is a listing for both the standard and blu-ray definition versions which will release mid-September, right in time for season eight’s premiere on the CW.

Right now the standard version is only about $2 less than the BluRay but rest assured that price will drop soon, and if you’ve already pre-ordered the set, your pre-order price will drop with it. While you’re at it check out the seventh season companion or the all new Justice League figures from the sixth season episode, “Justice”.

So why not go ahead and be one of the first to pre-order your seventh season set, and support SHoE and Smallville while you’re at it!? Click on the links below to place your order.

Also be sure to catch tonight’s Smallville season 7 finale, as well as an all new SHoE from Derek and Steve.

Tonight On Smallville….The Finale!

Posted in CW, DC, Finale, Lex Luthor, Michael Rosenbaum, Season 7, Smallville, Superman on May 15, 2008 by superman1224

Tonight is the season 7 finale of Smallville. Tonight is exciting on so many levels, but it is a little bittersweet, for tonight marks the last appearance for Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor. Michael has played arguably the best Lex Luthor the world has ever seen. I’m confident tonight will be his finest performance to date. Here is The CW’s official decription for the season finale Arctic.

LEX DISCOVERS CLARK’S SECRET — Kara (Laura Vandervoort) tells Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) he is destined to defeat the Traveler and offers to take him to the Fortress to learn how. Clark (Tom Welling) is stunned that Kara would go to Lex but it is revealed that Brainiac is impersonating Kara and she’s actually trapped in the Phantom Zone. Chloe is arrested by the Department of Domestic Security and Lana awakens from her comatose state. Meanwhile, in an epic turn of events, Clark and Lex face off in the Fortress and Lex learns Clark’s secret. Erica Durance and Aaron Ashmore also star. Todd Slavkin directed the episode written by Don Whitehead & Holly Henderson

Tonight On Smallville…Quest

Tonight is the next to last episode of Smallville before the season 7 finale. Tonight we find out who the last remaining member of Veritas is, and what he wants with Clark. Here is the CW’s official decreption for the episode.

CLARK MEETS THE LAST MEMBER OF VERITAS — Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is attacked by a cloaked stranger who carves kryptonian symbols into his chest – a message for Clark (Tom Welling). Chloe (Allison Mack) and Clark investigate and discover one member of the Veritas clan has survived and is hiding in a church. Clark and Lex race to be the first to find this mysterious Veritas member, who holds the key to Clark’s survival. Aaron Ashmore also stars. Ken Biller directed the episode written by Holly Harold

Be sure to check out Starkville’s House Of El, after the episode.

Michael Rosenbaum Leaves Smallville

Posted in CW, Michael Rosenbaum, Smallville, Superman on May 2, 2008 by superman1224

After 7 seasons of portraying the best Lex Luthor anyone has ever seen, Michael Rosenbaum calls it quits. It comes as a bit of a shock knowing now that this is for real. I guess a part of me thought that he would come around for some type of limited engagement not unlike Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang), who has also left the show, but will return for at least a third of season 8’s episodes. It seems this could be the end of Lex Luthor on Smallville, however in a statement from Smallville executive producers Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, they eluded to a possible limited return for Rosenbaum, but I’m not holding my breath. It seemed that Rosenbaum has been very adamant and very verbal about his departure from the show as far as a year ago. I would be very surprised if he came back now that the decision has been made official.

So the big question is, where does this leave Smallville? I mean let’s take a roll-call shall we? So returning for sure for season 8 we have, Clark, Jimmy, Lois, and Kara. Chloe (Alison Mack) is still in talks, and we’ve already mentioned that Kristin is only going to be in a third of the episodes. There is no doubt in my mind that Alison will be back, since she seems to play a major roll in the show. But we’ve lost Lex and Lionel, not to mention the shows creator’s, Al and Miles, as well as a budget that has been cut in half.

So what are we left with? Who will play the villain? Glad you asked, because this is where it starts to go south. According to Smallville executive producers Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, DOOMSDAY will make an appearance! WHAT? Wait WHAT? Doomsday? Really? Seriously, what will Superman have left to do at this point? I mean fear is no longer going to be keeping Clark from becoming the Man Of Steel, boredom will! The Dude will have no one to fight! Another new villain will also be introduced in the 8th season. A fem fatal to be named later. Apparently what will make her so dangerous is the shared attraction between her and Clark.

All-in-all I am starting to get a little worried. I will still love Smallville because of it’s history and because I have been a fan for so long. As you know love covers a multitude of sins, but I worry about the new viewers. They might not be as forgiving as those who love the show. But hey it’s the last season so I suppose they don’t have much to worry about.
