jladvdcover.jpgOf course you do. So I’ve decided to hold a contest on this blog for the chance to win a copy of the new animated Justice League: The New Frontier DVD that is being released on Feb 26th. Keep checking back for more details about the contest. They could drop at anytime and you want to be the first to get this information.

Based on the graphic novel by Darwyn Cooke and produced by Michael Goguen and animation legend, Bruce Timm, Justice League: The New Frontier is the epic tale of the founding of the Justice League . The New Frontier takes viewers on an action-packed adventure, exploring the origins of the Justice League. DC Comics legends Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are all featured in the film as well as Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and The Flash – as they band together to form the legendary super team. Strangers at first, these very different heroes must overcome fear and suspicion to forge an alliance against a monster so formidable, even the mighty Superman cannot stop it alone. If they fail, the entire planet will be “cleansed” of humanity.

The Joker….FINALLY!

So there you have it. The Clown Prince of Crime in all his glory. The Dark Knight is shaping up to be a master piece. I can actually say I am glad there has been a slow burn with revealing the new Joker. I have to admit I was very skeptical and honestly disappointed when I heard that Broke back…I mean Heath Ledger was going to be the new Joker. However the slow reveal of his appearances made me appreciate him more over time. I really think this is a great approach to the character, but it’s success weighs heavily on Ledger’s performance. Can he make us believe he is the right man clown for the job? We’ll see. So now that it is finally out, what do you guys think of the new Joker?

fiercelonger.jpgIn an all new Smallville titled “Fierce”, Lana is back, but is she the same Lana who left? Also Kara signs up for the Smallville Miss. Sweet Corn pageant to try and fit in, only to attract more attention, especially her fellow contestants who just happen to be meteor infected. Hmm sounds like we’re back to normal around Smallville, we already have our first freak(s) of the week. Make sure to come back and check out the Smallville page to read the recap.

Trailer out

So I just got a glimpse at the new IRON MAN trailer. Hmmm. At first I thought Robert Downey Jr. was a strange choice to play Tony Stark, but then I caught the few lines in the trailer. The personality is dead on. There might be some hope for this movie yet. I must confess I almost permanently blinded myself from the eye roll the news of an Iron Man movie received. I was never really into Iron Man. It seemed like a reach to make a movie about him. I could see if he was in a movie about Captain America as a supporting  character but never a movie by himself. I would say a glimmer of hope would be that Jon Favreau would be directing. Also a star studded cast with the likes of Sam Jackson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and, Terrence Howard also give the film some promise. Dispite all the skepticism I’m sure I’ll go see it and it will make a butt-load of money hence perpetuating the vicious cycle of every comic book property being squashed into a 2 hour movie with multiple sequels who’s mythology suffer from shotty creative licensing and an alternating director/supporting cast. Who’s with me?

You can see the trailer here.

So about 2 weeks ago I was flipping through Graphic Design America 3 and saw one of the coolest things ever. A company by the name of BAD STUDIO designed a style guide for The Man Of Steel. This guide shows companies how and where to use the logos, patterns, and even Big Blue himself on all sorts of things from T-Shirts to Lunch boxes.

So being the huge fan of good design and Superman of course, I wrote an email to Scott Banks over at BAD STUDIO in Atlanta, GA., telling him how I really liked his work and also the style guide he did for Superman. I also told him that I was a huge fan of Superman and that I would love to have a hard copy for my nerd collection. Within hours of the email Scott replied that he still had some style guides laying around and if he could fine one he would send it my way. So of course I was pumped. So Yesterday I got my style guide in the mail. THANKS SCOTT! It is awesome. Only downside is Scott couldn’t give me the Cds with all the workup files. Understood, but that would have been awesome. Anyway, I just want to thank Scott again for extending his generosity. I really appreciate his time and patience with me. You’re awesome!

The “Amazing” Spider-Man

Posted in Art, Big Budget movies, Comics, Sony, Sony Pictures, Spider-man, Venom on May 7, 2007 by superman1224

spiderman.jpgI am sure most of you knowing what a HUGE comic guy I am are surprised it’s taken me this long to post about Spider-man 3. I am sure most of you will even fall out of your chairs reading that I have yet to see the film. Don’t get me wrong I am really pumped about this movie but all plans to see it this weekend fell through. I will however see it in due time and will post my review.

So since I haven’t see the movie yet I went on over to the “Spidey” movie website to check out some of the goodies. I was Amazed! Those of you who love all the special effects should watch all the video’s they have on there. Some really cool stuff. I am flat out overwhelmed at some of the things they do on a movie set. To see all the trailers filled with special effects is mind blowing. I have a pretty good vision when it comes to film, but I wouldn’t know where to start with all that stuff. I guess that’s what’s cool about being a director. You don’t have to know how to do all that stuff you just tell other people to do it. Maybe one day I will get that type of opportunity on some small scale. Until then please, those of you that have seen the movie please tell me what you thought. Of course it goes without saying NO SPOILERS!!!!
