Smallville Season 8 Premiere Tonight!

Posted in Odyssey, season 8, Smallville, Superman on September 18, 2008 by superman1224

“Odyssey” marks the first episode of the new season of Smallville. Time has flown by so quickly. The premiere has snuck up on me this year. I have a small confession to make though. I’ve been very cautious about getting to hyped up about this new season. There are a lot of changes to start off this season. Some good and some…well I suppose only time will tell. The two biggest question marks that stand over the show casting a very large shadow on my excitement, are the absence of Lex Luthor, and the introduction of Doomsday. By not having one and adding the other Smallville has been pretty much turned upside down. I’m hopeful though. I’ve seen some clips from the premiere and the way the new season has been shot it makes the show look larger.  Much like Heroes, in that “Movie on TV” quality. Another redeeming factor to this new season is depicted in one of the most epic shots of the series. I’m of course talking about the photo in this post. Clark and Lois working across from one another at the Daily Planet. The only thing that could top that, is seeing Clark fly.

The new season premieres tonight on the CW at 8 PM. Also be sure to check out Starkville’s House of El for the the best podcast on the planet. Seriously….these guys are great!

Fan Film

There is a lot of crap out there in Youtube land. It seems as though any nut with a video camera is trying to make something to get their 15 seconds of internet fame. One genera in particular that falls victim to joe video camera, is anything related to comic book characters. There are countless fake trailers put together from numerous existing clips, kids running around in cheesy costumes and bad makeup making their own versions of their own films, and don’t get me started on the music videos. Anyway, in the bit of all the mediocrity there are some real gems out there. Here are the best that I have found. The last one does an excellent job of reenacting parts of “The Killing Joke”

Batman Dead End:

Grayson:

World’s Finest:

Batman Legends:

Batman Arkham Asylum:

Super-Hero Hats

Posted in Captain America, Hats, New Era, Superman, THe Flash on June 10, 2008 by superman1224

I love hats. I have a ton. One thing that bugs me though is that all the Superman hats out there are really weird. They never fit right. I finally found a really sweet one that actually looks right on my head and what happens……my dog eats it! Awesome! So looking at this handsome head piece, I’m still a little bummed because $38 bucks is a lot to pay for some superhero headgear. Even though it is made by New Era and it’s fitted! Nevertheless, Superman isn’t the only super-hero featured on these new Custom hats. The Flash and Captain America are also getting their own noggin cover. You can check them out here, but act fast these babies are a limited edition and I am sure they will “fly” off the shelves…..see what I did there?

I saw this yesterday and it was too good not to post. One of my friends thought this was me. I must confess, I’ve thought about it. In case you can’t read what it says:

Remember:

1) Straight Legs

2) Flap Arms

3) Pray

4) Cape

5) Pants Outside Trousers

Bizarro AM Not Baseball

Posted in Baseball, Bizarro, Detroit, MLB, New York, Superman, Tigers, Yankees on May 22, 2008 by superman1224

Never in my life have I been more delighted and saddened at the same time. I will say this, the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated definitely sums up this crazy 08 baseball season. There is no better examples of this Bizarro season than the New York Yankees, and the Detroit Tigers. Of course they just happen to be my two favorite teams (go figure). The Tigers and the Yankees are the top two highest paid lines ups in all of basebal l, but that’s not the only thing they have in common. They are both in last place in their divisions. All hope is not lost. As I remember correctly, the Yankees were all but dead last year before the All-Star break, only to make a mad run to the post season. As for the Tigers, well you can’t get spoiled faster in Detroit. There is no fickler fan than a Detroit fan. They’re the first to jump ship at the first sign of trouble. The Wings are in the Stanley Cup Finals, the Pistons are in the Eastern Conference Finals, but all people can do is complain about the Tigers.

I’m making my first trip to Yankee Stadium This Sat, so here is hoping that the Yanks can do the same to Seattle that the Tigers did. Let’s also hope that Jeter’s hand is ok to play for me too!

Fused Film Blog

I would have to say the coolest thing about blogging, and probably the number one reason why I keep doing it is because of the people I meet. A few days ago I was introduced to Kevin. Kevin and his buddy Adam are the co-creator’s of the Fused Film Blog. I was approached by Kevin to create a logo for their blog. I was honored to help them out. Here is a little more info about the Fused Film Blog in their own words.

In November of 2007, blogger Kevin (Kent1985) Coll and Adam (MajorXero) Joiner launched the Fused Film Blog with the goal of bringing their own spin to the world of entertainment news and blogging. They wanted to create a place where not only they could voice their “fused” emotions but where they could hear other fans opinions and “fused” thoughts as well.

The Fused Film Blog takes some of the biggest movie and geekiest news available and comments on them to no end.

You can find more info on these guys here, or you can drop them a line through Email at fusedfilm@gmail.com

News

So this morning I have been slammed with all kinds of movie and TV news. First things first. New Dark Knight poster released. Very cool. I am getting the feeling since we are less than two months away from The Dark Knight, info will be pouring in from here on out. I will do my best to keep you all updated with any major happenings. In other news it looks as though Smallville will be short one blond Kryptonian in it’s 8th and final season. TV Guide’s Mike Ausiello reported that Laura Vandervoot will not be returning as a series regular. There is a possibility she may be back for one or two episodes, but it is unclear at this time. Read more here.
Also the new Punisher Movie has released it’s first poster. You can see that here.
Finally in the days leading up to Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, George Lucas has expressed interest in making a 5th Indian Jones movie. Hey why not….seriously what else does the guy have to do? You can read more of that here.

About Last Night

Posted in ABC, CW, LOST, NBC, Smallville, Superman, The Office on May 16, 2008 by superman1224

As most of you know there were some big finales and also the start of another. I had to work last night at Apple so I DVRed them all and watched one right after the other. Lots to cover so here we go.

LOST – Great episode. Ben is the good guy, didn’t you know? You’ll see. I also have a theory of who is in the coffin and I believe it’s right on the money. I’ll leave the answer in the comments for those of you woh don’t want to be spoiled.

Smallville – I really enjoyed it! Not the best season finale ever but still very good. Michael was stupendous and Kristin taped one of her best performances ever. I might have shed a tear. That scene was great. The writers have a huge mountain to climb for next season. One great thing about the episode was we got a New Dark Knight TV Spot!

The Office – GREAT! It’s really the only show (other than the old eps of scrubs) that can make me laugh out loud at least once every episode! Kevin is slowly becoming my favorite character. So bummed Andy stole Jim’s thunder. Ryan? Come on who didn’t see that kid going down in flames. Biggest OMG moment came when Jan made her appearance. I really hope Michael and the new HR lady lay a good base!
