3 years + 11

Posted in Anniversary, Becca, Love, Wedding on June 4, 2008 by superman1224

It’s been 3 years to the day since we first said “I do”. 11 1/2 since our first kiss. When you’ve been with someone for so long it’s hard imagine never growing tired of them. Not my wife. When you have a wife that’s like mine, things are always interesting. I mean what’s not to love about someone who knows your favorite show. Who can make you feel like a kid again. Who tells stories like this one. Or how about someone who makes sacrifices for other people. Someone who makes your dreams come true. Or just someone to watch the game with. These are just a few examples of what a AMAZING (I told you I only use it when it actualy applies) person my wife is. God has blessed me in more ways I can count just for sending her my way. For her to look past all the hair, and flannel. To ignore the ripped up jeans, and the screaming music, and find someone she could spend the rest of her life with. I am forever greatful. I love you sweetheart.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Birthday Becca!

So today is my wife’s 25th birthday. Those of you who don’t know her, she is the most beautiful, honest, hardworking, determined, loving, caring, fun loving, goofy, unique person in the world. Those of you who do know her probably could add a lot more things to that list. She hates the spotlight so I’ll probably get some flack for this post but she deserves it. I just can’t help but to share with the whole world that she is the best thing in my life and each year is a gift to not only me but everyone around her.

Happy Birthday Babe!

Thinking Blogger Award

Posted in Design, Love, Me, MUD & STEEL, Pay It Forward, Thinking blogger, Worship on April 19, 2007 by superman1224

First off I would like to thank Aaron for this award. If I could tag him back I would. His blog is a great inspiration to me. You all should check out what he has to say.

So I have been informed by the Blogfather that I am to tag five other people who’s blog makes me think. It is a difficult task to choose among many qualified candidates. So please if you didn’t make the cut you are no less special.

1. Worship City: There are so many things we have in common. I love to hear his incite on worship, music and other random topics. I hope one day we can go to a concert together my man.

2. Coming in a close second is CEC Worship: A fellow graphic designer and worship leader, Mr. Klampert always has positive things to say. He laughs at my jokes and we share a great deal of the same interests. He also provides a great resource for other worship leaders. It is a cool little hub where you can find others set lists and be inspired to try a new song. You are awesome man. Keep it up!

3. Ragamuffin Soul: This guy is awesome. His blog is so entertaining. There is just so much stuff to look at. His worship confessionals were part of the inspiration behind “Mud & Steel” not so much in the content but being able to put a face, a voice, and a person behind the words written in a blog. Los you are the man.

4. To Be The Man: We’ve never really talked but I read his blog everyday. He offers great opinions on just about anything and he is right on the money. I urge everyone to check him out.

5. Tolleson Design Blog: I don’t think he will pass on the love but I know he deserves the love. Steve Tolleson is one of the greatest designers of all time. His book soak wash rinse spin is probably one of the best design books I have ever seen and got me through my Jr. and Senior years at CCS. I urge anyone who is interested in design to check him out and buy his book

So that’s my 5. Pass on the love.

Okaaaaaaaaaaaay The Stanley Cup Playoffs Have Begun……Yeeeeeeah!

So the playoffs have begun. This is a special time of year….well at least it used to be. I remember as a young lad watching the Wings fly to glory until the weeee hours of the morning with my mommy. She was a big fan….if they were in the playoffs. I would sit and watch every playoff game just as I did every regular season game. Now-a-days in the post strike era I don’t think I watched an entire game all season. I don’t know if it’s because Stevie Y is gone or Shanny being a Ranger now or what. It just doesn’t seem the same. Well I am going to try my best to rekindle the old Redwings flame this post season. I am hoping they can at least get ast the first round this year. I will be updating the outcome of the games here on this blog as well as adding my own commentary and observations.

Here is the schedule for the Wings and Flames.

Flames @ Red Wings 4/12/07 7:00 PM ET
Flames @ Red Wings 4/15/07 1:00 PM ET
Red Wings @ Flames 4/17/07 10:00 PM ET
Red Wings @ Flames 4/19/07 10:00 PM ET
Flames @ Red Wings 4/21/07 3:00 PM ET*
Red Wings @ Flames 4/22/07 TBA*
Flames @ Red Wings 4/24/07 TBA*

Growing Up

Posted in About Me, Life, Love, Me, Who We Are, Work on April 10, 2007 by superman1224

The verdict is in and after much deliberation it has been proven without a reasonable doubt that I am immature. Now don’t all rush to make your comments yet. I’m sure many of you will be able to confirm this statement with staggering quickness. Loving Superman, reading comics, and playing video games aren’t the smoking guns here. I think I may have a little bit of the Peter Pan syndrome. I run and hide from everyday responsibility like it wants my lunch money. Everyday I am reminded that I am not ready for a kid yet. I guess because I am too selfish. I still want time to play…..everyday. Couple that with a horrible case of procrastination and what do you get? A poor wife who has to remember everything. I’m not really sure why I am posting this other than the fact that I’ve had it on my mind for a while. I know that there are things in life that you just can’t avoid. I just don’t want to become one of those people that all they do from the time they wake up in the morning to the time they go to bed is work and by work I mean work 9-5 and then go home and by the time they make dinner clean up and do things around the house it’s time to go to bed and do it all over again. That’s when you wake up one day and you’re 50 and you are wondering what happen to your 30′s. So where is the balance? Where does everything fit? Maybe some of you 30 somethings can give me some advice on how to ease into responsibility without the kicking and screaming?

Top 5 Songs Of The Week.

Posted in After Midnight Project, Lifehouse, Love, Music, Smallville, Superman, Top 5 on March 30, 2007 by superman1224

It is time once again. These are my top 5 of the week.

5. “Take Me Home” By After Midnight Project. Check them out here.

4. “Free Bird” By Lynard Skynard. I recently watched Elizabeth town (great movie) and this song was in it and I was like “Oh yeah that is a great song.” So that’s why it’s on here.

3. “You Could be Happy” By Snow Patrol. This was in the Smallville episode Promise. It’s a great song.

2. “Love, Reign O’er Me” By Pearl Jam. Originally done by the Who, this song is excellent. I haven’t seen the movie yet but heard it is great.

1. “Out Of Breath” By Life House. This is on their second record Stanley ClimbFall.

Post your top 5!

Discipline

Posted in Becca, Help, Life, Love, Me, Running on March 12, 2007 by superman1224

run_number.jpg
I am happy to report that I made it. I ran the 5K on Sunday and I didn’t die quite or even walk although any of those would’ve felt better than the way I was feeling at the end of the run. I did it though in 33 minutes even. I know I wasn’t “faster than a speeding bullet” or anything but I didn’t finish last. The real rub about the whole run though was the last turn of every lap was a huge hill. Every time I got to that hill I wanted to give up. I probably would have if hadn’t been for my wife. Sometimes running backwards to look me in the eye and encourage me, she never let me give up.

For the longest time I have been worried about my self discipline. For some reason after I got out of college my discipline went out the window. Running last week was the first time I set a goal and reached it without giving up. That feeling was intoxicating. It suddenly made the task seem less difficult. It gave me the desire to keep going. I would have to say Friday was my break though. Up until Friday I was unable to complete the 3 miles without stopping to walk a ways. I kept trying every day but I couldn’t do it. It turned out to be more of a diet thing than a psychical inability. Apparently not eating after noon and three cups of coffee do not make you running ready. So after eating a good mid day snack and some Gatorade I was able to not only complete the three miles but I ran an extra victory lap just because I felt so good I completed my goal!

So now it is official. I am a runner. I am going to continue running after work and trying to stay in shape. Who knows I may be running the Team in Training with Becca next year. By the way thanks to all of you who supported her over the last few months. She is now running 9 miles and has exceeded her goal of $1,500 and has raised $1,967! But don’t let that keep you from giving. We are still hoping to raise as much money as possible for this great cause.

Top 5 Songs Of The Week.

Posted in Life, Lifehouse, Love, Me, Music, Top 5, Worship on March 9, 2007 by superman1224

It’s time once again for the Top 5 songs of the week.

5. “Not Enough” By Our Lady Peace. This song is a little old but it’s one that I have revisited when I accidentally figured out how to play it while rehearsing for Sunday. Powerful song. The live version is really great.

4. “Look to the Sky” By Train. Really great song. Russ and I heard this while eating at Applebee’s coming back from Chicago. This song could totally be done on a Sunday morning.

3. “Somewhere In Between” By Lifehouse. This is off their first CD. One of their greatest songs.

2. “Good Enough” By Lifehouse. Thanks to Aaron for pointing me in this songs direction. Apparently it’s in the movie “The Wild”. Just another great Lifehouse song.

1. “Cupids Chokehold” By. Gym Class Heros. Pretty interesting song. You’d have to hear it to know what I mean. It’s one of those songs that once you hear it it gets in your head.

As always post your top 5

New Link

I added a new link to my site. It’s called My Work. It’s a small sample of some of the design work that I did while in school. Also a little work I have done on the side. This site will be changing quite a bit over time but I figured I would just get it up there. Enjoy.
